“House Calls” – Shea Bromirski’s journey from small town hero
to college star
February 15, 2010 at 8:34 am by Eric Medved
at the Times Union
Cambridge’s Shea Bromirski took a unique route to get to the
midtown Albany college campus of the College of St. Rose. This
tiny urban campus between Western and Madison Avenues is now home to
this small town star who is realizing a dream of playing college
basketball.
For the legions of fans who watch him, it is a trip many people are
glad he made and one he hopes other small school players dream about
and achieve as they work to realize their own hoops dreams.
Shea’s journey began over on the Vermont border in the tiny towns
of Hoosick Falls and Cambridge, where there is lots of open space and
often the sport of football reigns supreme. On the 10-mile
stretch between the two tiny villages, this coach’s son spent many
years driving to the St. Mary’s gym to play and learn from his daddy
who was a teacher and coach there. Not that football didn’t get
to Shea (he won a Sectional title in high school as the starting
quarterback) but hoops has always been his game and his work is paying
off.

SMA Alumni Attend the Annual Pancake Breakfast in 2009

Students celebrated a mini reunion this past Fall by participating in
the Annual Pancake Breakfast. Everyone proudly displayed their
college sweatshirts while some students spoke during the event-
educating our younger students on the benefits of furthering your
education, what transitioning to public school is like and what they
enjoyed best about their family at St. Mary's Academy.
Why I love to come to visit SMA on my day off of
school…..
Because SMA is surrounded with faith, joy, peace,
love, patience, goodness, Self-control, gentleness and kindness,
literally. * I love Miss Cudd *
~Aaron Delurey, Sophomore HFCS- January 2010
When I come back here it feels like nothing has
changed. Everyone treats me as if I never left.
I love it! The teachers are like parents to me. I love SMA!!
~Grace Delurey, Freshman HFCS- January 2010
I love to see Mr. B’s smiling face!!
~John Hayden, Sophomore HFCS- January 2010
Because I always love to see my old teachers and say
hello. I love to see all my old friends that still go to St. Mary’s . I
always loved St. Mary’s and
don’t want to not be here!
~Alice Hayden, Freshman HFCS- January 2010
One of the things I most look forward to on a day off
is going to visit St. Mary’s
if they do have school. The good things about
this are seeing teachers there that I don’t see much ever since I
graduated 8th
grade, and just bringing back memories of my days there.
