St. Mary's Programs

The children at SMA receive a New York State Standards based curriculum. The children learn through a variety of learning and teaching styles including cooperative learning, small group instruction, projects, hands-on activities and large group instruction.

The curriculum includes the teachings of Jesus integrated into the daily lessons and through the Fruit of the Spirit Character Education Program. Yearly the IOWA standardized testing program is administered to all children in grades 3-8. The use of IOWA tests assists the teachers in meeting the needs of all the children on an individual basis.

SMA also administers the 4th, 6th and 8th grade NYS English/Language Arts and Math tests, 5th and 8th grades NYS Social Studies Test and the 4th and 8th grades NYS Science tests. 8th grade students in the advanced program also have the opportunity to take the regents in Earth Science, Math as well as the Proficiency in Spanish.
