Ms.
Joan Nolan - Kindergarten/Pre-Kindergarten Loop
Miss Nolan has been teaching at the school for over
23 years. Her experience and dedication lies with the
Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten children. Graduates
and parents continue to comment on the positive attributes
she brings to St. Mary's. Her relationships with her
classes have always been respected. If you visit her
classroom you'll feel the warmth and creativity amongst
her environment. Miss Nolan is an appreciated teacher
within St. Mary's and represents the school with very
high values. |

Mrs.
Reena Jones- Kindergarten/Pre-Kindergarten Loop
Reena
Jones has joined the SMA faculty as our Pre-Kindergarten
teacher 3 and 4 years old students. Reena and
her family are no strangers to SMA as her daughter Madison
attended the PreK program during the 2005-06 school
year.
Reena is a
graduate of Lansingburgh High School and Hudson Valley
Community College and is currently attending Russell
Sage College working on a Bachelors Degree in Psychology.
She is set to graduate in the spring of 2007.
Prior to her
employment at SMA, Reena spent the past 11 year teaching
at various daycare programs around the area. She
is very excited to bring her years of experience to
the children at SMA.
Reena and her husband Dave reside
in Johnsonville with their two children Madison and
Mitchell. She enjoys scrapbooking and reading
when she has free time. |

Mrs.
Tiffany Stratton-First Grade
SMA
is happy to welcome Tiffany Stratton as our First Grade
teacher. A graduate of Hoosick Falls Central School,
Tiffany received her degree in June 2006 from the College
of St. Rose in Early Childhood Education and Special
Ed. She is looking forward to meeting her students
and watching them grow both physically and academically
through the school year.
Tiffany and
her husband Tim reside in Hoosick Falls and have a one-year
old son Andrew. Aside from teaching Tiffany enjoys
scrapbooking; a hobby which she'd love to share with
her class. |

Miss
Amanda Patten-Second Grade
Amanda is very excited to begin her
teaching career at SMA. After graduating from Hoosick
Falls Central School in 2002, Amanda spent five years at
SUNY Plattsburgh earning her Bachelor’s Degree in
Elementary Education and her Master’s Degree in Curriculum
and Instruction. Amanda is looking forward to the new
school year ahead and meeting and growing with her new
students. Amanda loves reading and is a huge Dr. Seuss
fan, which is very noticeable when you enter the
classroom.

Mrs.
Linda McGuire - Third Grade
Linda is our third grade teacher and has been at St.
Mary's Academy for 31 years. Her friendly manner and
positive attitude is what makes her special with the
children and the staff. Mrs. McGuire graduated from
SMA in 1968 and has served as a primary grade teacher
and as Interim principal. Her husband, Mal and two daughters
Kelly and Kathleen are also alumni. Mrs. McGuire is
respected and admired as an educator. The effort she
puts forth is refreshing and amazing. We are proud to
be working with her and appreciate her kindness. Mrs.
McGuire exemplifies our character education program
by her consistent display of all aspects of the fruits
of the spirit. |

Mr.
Don Kerr -
Fourth Grade
Don has spent much of his
life working with young persons, both in the classroom and
in the performing arts. A Graduate Fellow of UVM and of
Harvard University, he has a BA in English and Music and
an MA in Music History and holds permanent New York State
certification in English and Music. He studied organ with
Edward Gammons of the Groton School and Bernard Lagacé of
Montréal, and harpsichord with Dom André Laberge OSB,
Abbot of St-Benoît-du-lac, Québec. Among his past
positions are: Music and Latin Master, The Rectory School,
Pomfret CT; English 10-12, AP English, and Latin
Instructor at St Mary's Academy, Glens Falls; Director of
Music and the Arts, St Paul's Cathedral, Burlington VT;
Organist and Choirmaster, The Church of the Messiah, Glens
Falls; and Organist and Schola Cantorum Director, The
Church of St Paul the Apostle, Salem. He is a Membre
d'honneur of the Académie André Marchal in Biarritz.
He was the commissioned librettist for three major
music-dramas for children by the British composer Alan
Ridout: Saint Edward the Martyr, Jonah, and Saint George
and the Dragon, two of which had their world premiere
performances in Montréal, and the third at the Cathedral
of the Incarnation in Garden City, Long Island.
Additionally, he was commissioned by the Montréal Boys'
Choir School at CAMMAC, where he served for several years
as Poet-in-Residence, to write a series of ten hymns for
the Church Year—again, for children.
Mr. Kerr retired from the New York State Department of
Correctional Services in 2003. He very happily comes out
of retirement to join the teaching staff at Saint Mary's.
A long-time resident of Shushan, he now lives in Cambridge
with Annie, his Collie, and two cats, Meerz and Charlotte.
He has three brothers and seven sisters and a large number
of nieces and nephews, most of whom live in Vermont. |

Mrs.
Margaret Merwin - Middle School Math

Margaret Merwin is the middle school math teacher and
will be completing her fifth year at St. Mary's Academy.
As an alumni, Margaret shows dedication towards the
school and the children she is teaching. The students
enjoy working with Margaret and the respect and appreciate
the time and talent that she offers to them. On a consistent
basis Margaret offers extra help to students who want
to improve their math skills. You'll find Margaret's
classroom filled on these days not only because the
children want to exceed, but they enjoy her company
and like her style of teaching. |

Mr.
David Bromirski - Physical Education/English Language
Arts
David is a member of the SMA Class of '77. David teaches
gym to grades 2-8, and Language Arts in grades 6 & 7.
He is the boy's basketball and soccer coach and all
around SMA athlete. Before coming to SMA eight years
ago he worked for the Washington County Dept. of Corrections.
David and his wife Bridget have three children.
He is a graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh. David is a wonderful
role model for our students and one of our very appreciated
heroes! |

Mrs.
Lesley Prendergast - Social Studies/Technology
Mrs. Lesley Prendergast has been teaching at St. Mary's
Academy since 1990. She currently teaches Social Studies
to 6-8th grade students, English/Language Arts to grade
8 and Religion. Lesley is an avid history buff
as well as a soccer fan. She has a varied and interesting
background including being a paralegal and authoring
a book in 1984 entitled Transition: Secretary to
Paralegal. |

Ms.
Donna Cuddihy - Science/Physical Education
We know Miss Donna Cuddihy as Miss C, Miss Cud, Coach,
and the gym teacher. It's often said that Miss Cud is
a kid herself, using her wit and lightheartedness to
motivate her students and those around her. Miss Cud
looks out for the students' well being. She appreciates
the children, finds the best within them and works with
their strengths. As the softball, basketball coach,
science and gym teacher Miss Cud spends much time in
many areas of the school. Her knowledge and wealth of
interest in the children is what makes her special.
Her energy is focused in the right direction and makes
a difference for the children and families at St. Mary's.
Miss Cud graduated from SMA in 1977. Her 26 years of
teaching at the school have kept a tradition that we
are thankful for. |

Mrs. Leona Hynick Cavagnero - Music
Leona brings a wide variety of experiences to SMA.
She is a musician capable of playing many musical instruments
as well as learning more through the Band Bus program
which she directs. Leona is also an accomplished singer
who has toured with the A Capella Chorus of Northeastern
Christian Junior College. Leona teaches music to pre-school
through grade 8 at SMA, and is also on the faculty of
Woodford Hollow Elementary School in VT. Leona also
teaches the instrumental music program here at SMA.

Señora
Judy Dupuis - Spanish
Spanish teacher,
Señora Judy Dupuis joined the SMA faculty in
September 2002 as a Spanish teacher for grades 6-8th
grade. Señora Dupuis’ enthusiasm for the
language and her ability to make learning fun in the
classroom, encourages students to do their best. Señora
is constantly seeking better ways to present the material
given to fit the learning styles of all the students
she is teaching. In the past, Señora has coordinated
a Cinco de Mayo festival with the students that has
included foods, activities and music relative to the
Spanish culture. We are glad to have Judy as a part
of SMA. |
