SMA School Policies
Discrimination Policy:
The schools of the Roman Catholic
Diocese of Albany base not only their education purpose, but
all their activities on the Christian teaching of the essential
quality of all persons as rooted in the fatherhood of God,
Christ's love and supernatural destiny. Thus, with the discrimination
so repugnant to their nature and mission, Catholic schools
in this Diocese have not and shall not discriminate on the
basis of race, color, natural or ethnic origin in administration
of educational policies, and all school administered programs."
Code of Conduct:
The Code
of Conduct is adopted by the School Board of St. Mary’s
Academy pursuant to and in
compliance with the requirements of Project SAVE and §100.2(l)
of the Regulations of the
Commissioner of Education.
The Code defines
the School Boards expectations for conduct on St. Mary’s
Property and at
School functions (on or off property) based on these accepted
principles. It also identifies the
range of penalties for unacceptable conduct. Unless otherwise
indicated, this Code applies to the
conduct of students, employees, student’s parents and
other visitors committed on School
Property, at a school function, or those otherwise affecting
the School’s spiritual and educational
program.
Uniform Policy:
Girls Dress Uniform
- Uniform jumper (K-4); Uniform skirt (5-8)
- Uniform blouse (white, long or short sleeve)
- Khaki Pant (November through March only) no Exterior pockets, stripes or flared legs
- Dress Shoes, ankle socks or tights (navy blue or white)
- Navy Cardigan, or navy pullover sweater
- Khaki walking shorts with white blouse or navy polo shirt
Boys Dress Uniform
- Khaki dress pants—NO exterior pockets, stripes or flared legs
- Navy blue polo shirt (K-4)
- White button down collar oxford (5-8)
- Dress shoes (no form of sneaker)
- Navy cardigan or navy pull over sweater
- Khaki walking shorts with white button down collar oxford (5-8), blue polo (K-4)
Gym Uniform
- Navy blue sweat shorts or pants (NO stripes, logos, exterior pockets)
- White or Navy blue polo shirt (No sayings or logos)
- Sneakers
Jewelry:
- Girl's earring should be a modest post type earring; Boys are not permitted to wear earrings.
Hair cut/color:
- Boy's hair should be off the collar. Hair color should in no way interfere with the educational process.
Affiliation:
St. Mary's Academy is a Catholic School in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany, New York. St. Mary's is the parish school of Immaculate Conception Parish,
Hoosick Falls. SMA is also located in the Hoosick Falls Central
School District.
Tuition Policy:
Tuition payments
are the responsibility of the parents and/or guardians. These
payments begin in July and all tuition is to be paid in full
by May 28th. St. Mary's Academy contracts with the
FACTS Tuition Management to furnish parents with an eleven-coupon
tuition payment book. If there are any problems with the book
or the tuition payment please contact the Principal.
If you have a financial, concerns affecting your ability to
pay please contact the principal immediately.
If tuition is two months in arrears, the following actions will be taken at the discretion of the Principal.
- 1. A letter will be sent
- 2. A phone call from a school board member
- 3. Report cards will not be given
- 4. School records will not be transferred
- 5. An eighth grade students will not participate in the class trip and graduation ceremony.
Internet Policy:
Students are allowed
to use the Internet under the supervision of a teacher or
adult volunteer. Students are expected to use the Internet
for academic purposes only. Any child found to be using the
internet for purposes other than academic or visiting sites
that are deemed inappropriate by a member of the school staff
will have his/her internet privileges revoked until a parent
meeting is held.
