History

St. Mary's Academy is the parish school of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls.  In 1891 the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondolet founded the school and under the direction of Rev. P.J. O'Connell opened the doors on September 8, 1891 to 600 students.

The very first graduation ceremony at St. Mary's Academy took place on June 28,1894 graduating eight seniors.  The original St. Mary's Academy building educated students in grades Kindergarten through twelve until 1956 when the new one story high school was built at it's current location on the top of High Street.  Students in grades nine through twelve were moved into this building.

In 1986, the St. Mary's Academy high school graduated its final senior class before closing the high school.  The original school building was closed and the elementary students were moved into the more modern high school building.  Today, St. Mary's Academy provides education to students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade.
